One question I often get asked is whether getting implants will affect the breast screening process for breast cancer.
The answer to this is although breast implants will affect the process, you can definitely still have them. You are able to have mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, and perform breast self-examinations.
You should tell the person doing the scans that you have implants because they may need to modify the test slightly to account for the implants. Breast implants can cover some of the breast tissue which may require different techniques.
It’s also worth mentioning that there is currently no evidence to suggest that breast cancer is more likely to occur in women with breast implants than in women without them.
If you have any concerns about this, you should speak to your doctor. Or if you would like to ask a question relating to your procedure, please get in touch with The Doctors Studio and we would be happy to help.
