Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers restore volume, elasticity and hydration to the face.

As they contain naturally occurring proteins identical to those found in our skin, they are a subtle yet powerful way to restore volume loss or correct facial proportions. Dermal fillers are injected into varying areas and depths of facial tissues, depending on the desired objective, and last up to 18 months. We use volume-enhancing dermal filler products made in a sterile laboratory.

Lips

Definition, proportion and symmetry are essential to ensure natural results help harmoniously balance the face. Due to the variable nature of our anatomy, no two lip treatments are approached in the same way. We undertake a thorough facial assessment and select a filler and technique that’s right for you.

Younger patients wanting a small amount of volume to enhance the lips might require less than 1 mL; older patients with average age-related volume loss might need 1mL or more, introduced over a couple of treatment sessions. This allows the product to incorporate and integrate with the tissues, gradually improving naturally.

02

Cheeks

Defined cheekbone and voluminous cheek are hallmarks of a beautiful, youthful face. A loss of bony support and facial volume can result in a sunken, tired appearance during ageing. Occasionally, genetics accelerates this process, resulting in a premature flattening of the cheekbone. We can use gel fillers to replace lost volume, enhance the cheekbone, or combine both, resulting in a freshly defined appearance.

For younger patients looking to create defined and striking cheekbones, we often use 1 to 2mL. Patients with age-related volume loss may require 2mL or more, depending on the amount of volume replacement needed. Once achieved, results usually require maintenance treatment only once per year.

03

Under eyes

Under-eye hollowing creates shadow and darkness, making us appear tired or run down when we’re not. This hollowing occurs due to a lack of volume and support to the ligaments underneath the eye.

Replacement of lost volume and supporting the ligament with a gel filler reduces hollowing and darkness, recreating an appearance consistent with our new selves. Often, we can enhance the result by raising the eyebrow’s tail.

04

Chin and jawline

For many people, refinement of the chin and jawline can improve the overall shape of the face, define the jaw and highlight either feminine or masculine qualities. Different techniques can be applied to enhance facial proportions or to tighten an ageing jawline. This treatment applies equally well to men and women, and is always varied according to the patient’s individual needs.

05

Nose

In the past, the only way to change the nose’s appearance was with a surgical rhinoplasty, or “nose job”. Today, with the availability of highly bio-compatible gel fillers, we can sculpt the nose to improve symmetry, straighten the appearance of a prominent “hump”, or create definition and height along the length of a low nose.

06

Mouth

Dermal fillers can improve the quality of the skin around the mouth, minimise fine lines on the top lip (often referred to as “smoker’s lines” although usually unrelated to smoking) and provide support to drooping mouth corners. Addressing these issues results in a more youthful and happier appearance.

As the skin around the mouth is highly dynamic, treatment in this area must be performed by a skilled practitioner who understands how the tissue moves to ensure a natural result while speaking or smiling.

Muscle relaxants

Anti-wrinkle and slimming injections can reduce muscle bulk. We precisely inject tiny amounts of a liquid containing muscle relaxant medication into facial muscles. This relieves lines and wrinkles and can also create a more harmonious facial shape. Treatments last three to four months on average and take only 10 minutes to administer. Results are seen after one week, as the muscles relax and lines start to dissipate.

Forehead

Those little lines that criss-cross the forehead can be effectively treated with a series of tiny injections.

02

Frown

Patients who opt for this area to be treated often complain of vertical lines that give the face an angry or scowling expression. By relaxing the muscles that cause this problem, we often observe smoothing those lines. Research has also shown that patients with migraines often experience an improvement in their symptoms.

03

Smile Lines

Those small lines that radiate from the side of the eyes when smiling can be reduced if overactive. This allows the delicate skin to remodel over a month and smooth out. If required, the outer ends of the eyebrow can also be lifted for a more aesthetically pleasing brown shape.

04

Chin

The “popply” chin can result from an overactive mentalis muscle. With one or two small injections, the muscle relaxes and smoothes the appearance of the chin. A horizontal line underneath the bottom lip may also be improved when softening the function of the muscle.

05

Nose

Smiling lines that appear on the side of the nose can leave permanent creases in the skin. In women, they are called “bunny lines” and “wolf lines” in men. Just one small injection can effectively relax the muscles, resulting in smoothing the overlying skin over one month or so.

06

Mouth

accordion arrow

As we age, we lose volume in our face, and the corners of the mouth can tend to look a little droopy. By relaxing some small muscles that pull the corners of the mouth down, we can effectively produce a more smiley-shaped mouth. We recommend this treatment in conjunction with a small amount of dermal filler.

07

Jaw

When the masseters (chewing muscles) are strong and prominent, the face can take on a square shape. Treating these muscles reduces size and doesn’t exert such a strong pull on the underlying bone. This can be a way to feminise an overly masculine facial shape and jawline. This treatment lasts up to nine months.

Facial threading

Facial threading is a non-invasive procedure to elevate sagging skin for those looking to achieve a rejuvenated appearance without undergoing invasive surgery.

Like other bio-stimulatory fillers, facial threads use a double-action effect to restore smoother and more toned skin. The procedure activates collagen production, improves skin quality, and immediately repositions tissue to gently lift and reshape the face.

Once the coned suture is placed under the skin, there is a slight compression to help reposition tissues and create the desired lifting effect. To enhance results, facial threads can be used in conjunction with other dermal fillers, bio-stimulants, muscle relaxants and dermal therapies.

Results typically last for 18 months and are apparent immediately after the 30-minute procedure.

Collagen stimulation

Collagen stimulation is an injectable treatment that increases volume and revitalises the skin.

Bio-stimulants are the next generation in cosmetic fillers. We use them to treat deep lines, wrinkles and the augmentation of noses, cheeks and chins. Created differently from popular standard dermal fillers, bio-stimulants comprise microspheres suspended in a gel. This unique combination works to reverse ageing through two steps.

Step one involves injecting the gel to sculpt, lift and restore lost volume – an immediately visible effect. Step two is the natural formation of new collagen. The gel portion of the filler starts to be naturally absorbed after four weeks; however, during that time, the microspheres begin to stimulate new collagen formation.

This new collagen formation peaks at around 12 weeks, helping reinforce the work of the filler long after the gel has dissolved. The spheres then stay in place and stimulate collagen for one to four years, depending on the product chosen.

How does it work?

Collagen is the main structural protein of our skin. It makes our skin appear firm and smooth – characteristics often associated with a youthful appearance. With age, natural collagen production slows, and our skin becomes thinner, losing volume and elasticity. Therefore, the formation of new collagen helps to provide longer-lasting results and helps with overall radiance and skin health.

Standard gel fillers typically last up to 12 months. However, many patients who are satisfied with the result might consider a longer-lasting option that has the added benefit of improving skin quality.
